Abstrakt: The article presents a study which showed complete attenuation of Plasmodium falciparum (Pf) sporozoites in human volunteers. The researchers tested the immunogenicity and safety of the genetically engineered Pf sporozoites. The sporozoites were delivered to human subjects using infected mosquito bites. It was found that Pf GAP3KO rodent malaria parasites engendered complete immunity against infectious sporozoite challenge in mice.
