Abstrakt: This article focuses on fragrance sensitivity in miners. Another possibility is exposure to an industrial chemical in the mines which cross reacts with fragrance mix. In view of the wide range of occupations undertaken by those in the miners group, any such chemical would have to be in a very general use. Barrier creams, skin cleansers, bar soap, used at the pit-head baths have also been examined, but all of these are only slightly scented or unscented and are not considered to be important. There is a coconut-oil based body lotion used in the showers which is highly scented.
