Abstrakt: The third biannual meeting of the European Council on Eating Disorders duly met in the golden city of Prague, Czech Republic, on 22-23 October 1993. The two debates on the first day presented equally contentious motions proposing firstly that psychotherapy with a starving patient is impossible without weight gain. The second debate focused on separating the patient from the parents. On the second day, there were two very different debates, firstly around the suggestion that "primary prevention is impossible and secondary prevention a waste of time", and finally around the idea of the same problems occurring in different countries.
