This article provides information on the report of the fourth international chromosome 6 workshop held in 1999. The workshop was the largest gathering of the chromosome 6 scientific community. The workshop focused on six aspects of mapping and sequencing; transcript mapping and gene cloning; informatics and database demonstrations; extended MHC; comparative analysis and chromosome structure; and finally diseases associated with chromosome 6. The complete nucleotide sequence of the human major histocompatibility complex (MHC) was presented at the workshop. |
