The results of patch testing with mercaptobenzothiazole, I % in petrolatum and with mercaptobenzothiazole mixture (mercapto-mix; MBT Mix) has been recorded in the present study related to contact dermatitis. Mercapto-mix consisted of mercaptobenzothiazole, N-cyclohexylbenzothiazylsulphenamide, dibenzothiazyldisulfide and morpholinylmercaptobenzothiazole 0.25 %each in petrolatum. MBT Mix and mercapto mix showed variable results to patch tests. It has been suggested that the concentration of mercaptobenzothiazole used in the mercapto-mix was low enough to produce some false negative patch test reactions. |
