The article explains the axial and coronal cross-sectional imaging of the butterfly adrenal gland. Topics discussed include the fusing of the normal adrenal glands across the midline, the uncertain pathogenesis of the fused adrenal gland and the associated diseases including asplenia and renal anomalies and ultrasound orientation of the hyperechoic inner medulla and outer cortex. |
