Endodontic treatment is one of the most progressive aspects of modern dentistry. In cases of failure of initial endodontic therapy, nonsurgical retreatment of teeth is preferred to surgical procedure and extraction as it is more likely to eradicate an intraradicular infection; a most common cause of post treatment disease. The objective of this descriptive cross sectional study was to evaluate the success of nonsurgical retreatment of teeth with periapical lesions which had been previously managed by endodontic intervention. In this in vivo study, 60 patients were treated in both gender of age above 13 years, among which 32 were males (53.3%) and 28 were females (46.7%). Out of 60 patients, 53 (88.3%) showed success and 7 (11.7%) showed failure of nonsurgical retreatment after a follow up period of 6 months. In conclusion nonsurgical endodontic retreatment of teeth with periapical lesions bears success rate of 88.3% and may be considered the first choice in endodontically treated teeth with periapical lesions.
