Abstrakt: Introduction : Diabetes is one of the most important internal disorders that human beings face. Diabetes, like other chronic and debilitating illnesses, causes problems for the person and affects all aspects of his/her life. Herein, we aimed to determine the effect of training spiritual/religious coping skills on level of anxiety and stress coping strategies of diabetic patients. Materials and Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest design with control and test groups. A total of 30 women with type II diabetes were selected from among the diabetic patients by examining all the medical records in a trusted doctor's office in Behshahr, Mazandaran, Iran. The samples were chosen through convenience sampling. The subjects were randomly assigned to control and test groups. The applied instruments were Kettle's anxiety questionnaire and the Billings and Mouse's coping strategies questionnaire . The test group received the protocol of training spiritual/religious coping skills, while the test group received the routine treatment, and after the pre-test were included in the waiting list. Analysis of covariance was used to analyze the hypothesis. Results: The results showed that the spiritual/religious coping skills in the post-test lowered the level of anxiety and promoted stress coping strategy in the diabetic patients. Conclusion: According to the results, spiritual/religious skills can be used as an effective and useful method for improving anxiety and stress coping strategies of diabetic patients.
