This article describes a simplified method of treating ulcers on legs by pinch grafts and a semipermeable, self-adhesive dressing of polyurethane. Chronic ulcers on legs are a common cause of considerable morbidity and a formidable therapeutic problem. Numerous methods and agents have been tried in attempts to initiate and expedite the healing process. The ulcers were cleansed with compresses of physiologic saline several minutes prior to grafting, and the donor sites were cleansed with a solution of providone-iodine. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
