| Abstrakt: | Development of Ukrainian historiography of late XIX — early XX century about historical figure of hetman Petro Sahaidachnyis analyzed in the article. Historical opinions of MykhayloHrushevsky and Ivan Kamanin are also covered. MykhayloHrushevsky has gathered and integrated all the previous researches on this topic and Ivan Kamaninis called a «biographer of Petro Sahaidachny». In addition, scientific works of MykolaVasylenko and OlexandraYefymenkoare analyzed. MykolaVasylenko is famous for his critical point of view about Cossacks and has personified new generation of Ukrainian historians.OlexandraYefymenko has summarized historical development from the point of view of people’s democratism.
