The article discusses the developments in the design of transmission electron microscopes (TEMs). Topics include the difference between the conventional and the next generation TEMs wherein the contrast and colors of image produced by the TEMs, and offers brief details on how images are formed in the TEM. The author also highlights the development of energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy in further developing the study in microscopic scale. |
