Abstrakt: This article focuses on a study of a 58-year-old woman who was treated for a retinal tear by laser therapy. After the 2nd laser session, she developed acute eczema of the eyelids with erythema, oedema and vesicles. Spreading to the periorbital areas, and drawing the tracks of eyedrops from checks to neck. She remembered having pruritus and erythema of the eyelids 3 days after the 1st laser session but the patch testing was negative and showed a bullous reaction to Neosynephrine. Although it was reported that contact dermatitis to phenylephrine in eyedrops is a rare event but considering the extensive use of this compound by ophthalmologists, the true frequency of this allergy may be higher than reported.
