Introduction: Cancer is a disease that poses a public health problem both in economic and human terms. What are the consequences of this disease on the lives of the couple? We established the hypothesis that cancer diagnosis announcement reinforces the couple's life. Material and methods: We conducted a study of 128 cancer cases, where a questionnaire was introduced. To assess cancer diagnosis impacts on the lives of the couple, is there a strengthening of the couple's life or rather a deterioration? What is the role of other factors such as the type of disease, stage of disease the type of treatment received, the number of dependent children, the level of education of the patient and his spouse, and monthly income of the family in this relationship?. Results: 128 cases were identified; the average age is 53 +/- 12 years. Breast cancer ranks first position where it represents 50.8%, followed by colorectal cancers 13.3%, 3.9% of ovarian cancer, stomach cancer 3.9%, prostate cancer 3.1%, cancer 3.1% of lung and nasopharyngeal cancer 3.1%. In 50% of cases, the patient and his spouse have the same level of education; illiterate in 53.2%, 17.7% in university, secondary in 16.1%, fair in 8% and primary in 4.8% of cases. In 30.6% of couples, the spouse has a higher level than the patient, and in 19.4% of cases, the patient has a higher level than the spouse. As for the number of dependent children, 37.6% of cases [3-5 [children, 28.8% of cases ≽ 5 children, 19.2% <2 children, and 14.4% were [2-3 [dependent children. About monthly family income, 28.3% have incomes [30000-50000] 27.4% have an income ≽ 50,000 DA, 24.5% <18,000 Da, and 19.8% have incomes [18000-30000]. Only 1.6% of all couples have brought the concept of separation after the announcement cancer versus 98.4% of couples who still live together. The announcement of cancer has significantly strengthened the couple's life in 56.5%, slightly strengthened the couple's life in 11.3; and slightly strengthened the couple's life in 8.1% of cases. The couple's life was greatly deteriorated in 1.6% of cases, moderately deteriorated in 3.1% and slightly deteriorated in 3.2%. In contrast, 16.1% of couples have brought the concept of no change in their relationship after announcing the cancer.
