The article discusses the war crime trials after World War II, considering both the 1945-1946 war crime trials at Nuremberg, Germany and the 1946-1948 war crime trials in Tokyo, Japan, focusing particularly on aspects of the international laws used to prosecute crimes and atrocities. Topics considered include war and collective memory, the way that historic source materials were used by the tribunals, and the historiography of both the war and the trials. |
