Abstrakt: Para-chloro-meta-xylenol (PCMX) is a halogen-substituted phenolic compound commonly used as an anti-microbial agent in antiseptics, disinfectants and cosmetics in the U.S. While allergic contact dermatitis from PCMX has been well recognized in Europe since early 1960s, its antigenic potential was recently reported in the U.S. The case of some individuals with allergic contact dermatitis from PCMX in Vaseline first aid carborated petroleum jelly or Redux electrocardiogram paste was reported. The article discusses the case of allergic contact dermatitis from Lurosep soap of a hospital employee.
