Several comments on the comments by Marie Jahoda regarding the industrial relations research in the twentieth century are presented. The key themes addressed on labor-management relations and organization behavior is recognized. Jahoda's work is duly acknowledged due to its strength in historical coverage. The key parts of twentieth century research were shown to have been anticipated in the writings of moral philosophers and political economists from previous centuries. A link between Karl Marx's works and 20th century research on worker attitude and job motivation has been established. The presumption by Jahoda on the small contribution of 20th century research on industrial relations is evident. |
