Abstrakt: Using both linear and curvilinear analyses, we investigate the moderating effects of job meaning and job autonomy on the emotional stability - organizational citizenship behavior relationship. Results indicate emotionally stable individuals are more likely to perform OCBOs in low autonomy and/or low job meaning situations than are employees who are low in emotional stability. Conversely, when individuals perceive their job to have high autonomy and/or high meaning, they are likely to engage in OCBOs regardless of personality. Data for control and independent variables were collected from subordinates at time 1, moderators at time 2, and supervisor-rated performance at time 3. Managers should note that personality may significantly affect job performance and consider placing individuals in jobs that best align with their personality strengths. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
