Abstrakt: | The uptake of methylamine by Trebouxia and its associated fungal partner in the lichen, Cladonia convoluta has been examined directly using quantitative autoradiography. Uptake of methylamine by Trebouxia is about five times that by the fungaI symbiont The membrane permeability of methylamine measured for both symbionts is higher than can he accounted for by the permeation of the uncharged molecule and provides evidence for the presence of a membrane transport system for protonated methylamine.
