The article discusses the second International Indian Ocean Expedition (IIOE-2) launched by the Scientific Committee on Ocean Research, the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), and the Indian Ocean Global Ocean Observing System (IOGOOS). Topics include the role of the IIOE in the advent of modern Indian oceanography, the role of ocean modelling and computing and communication technology in the improvement of data analysis, and the concern about the impact of climate change. |
