In the present study the cases of deaths due to burns admitted to the Basaveshwara Teaching & General Hospital (BTGH), M. R. Medical College, Kalaburagi were studied. This is prospective study conducted at mortuary of Basaveshwara Teaching and General Hospital, Kalaburagi, Karnataka between October 2013 to September 2015, which included 75 cases of deaths due to burns. Out of 75 cases of burns, (64%) cases were females and (36%) cases were males. Maximum number of victims (33.33%) was in the age group of 21-30 years. Majority of cases (89.33%) was due to dry heat (flame). Most of the victims (53.33%) sustained more than 80% burns. Maximum number of cases (73.33%) cases had dermo-epidermal burns. In majority of cases (69.33%) cause of death was due to septicaemia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
