The article presents a case study of a 22-year-old man with weakness, pancytopenia and persistent fever having a history of mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD). Topics discussed include treatment with diltiazem and medrol, presence of high titer of ribonucleoprotein (RNP) antibodies (Ab), elevated levels of creatine phosphokinase (CPK), thrombocytopenia and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) as evident by laboratory tests and hematologic diseases and infectious etiology in differential diagnosis. |
