Abstrakt: A fascinating relationship has been shown to exist between the epidermis of the skin, thymus-derived T-cells and the thymus. This was initially demonstrated by incidental morphologic, immunologic, genetic and pathologic findings and has now been studied further using immunopathologic techniques. This review will briefly outline the "experiments of nature," which have stimulated further investigation into such a T-cell-epidermal interaction. The thymus gland develops from the ventral portion of the third pharyngeal pouch as epithelial tubes, which eventuate into solid cords.
