Abstrakt: The web censorship is implemented in many countries. According to open net initiative, internet is censored in more than 40 countries, Pakistan is one of them. The web censorship is implemented in Pakistan in order to prevent the websites that contain blasphemous material. PTA imposed ban on several social sites that contained such material but the problem could not be solved still today. The blocked websites can be opened easily without using any virtual private Network (VPN) or using any proxy site on the network of different internet service providers (ISPs). There are different products used for URL filtration in the world such as China uses Great firewall of China, McAfee is a filtration system used in United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia and Canadian software known as Netsweeper used in Qatar. There are two main points where blocking and filtration techniques can be implemented, the backbone level and ISP level. We analyze the level of blocking and filtration system being implemented in Pakistan. We collect more than 300 blocked websites from google search engine and test their connectivity on different ISPs by using VPN as well as without using VPN within the country. On the basis of collected results, we analyze that web censorship either works on backbone level or ISP level in Pakistan. Furthermore, we find the drawbacks of current web censorship implemented in the country. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
