This paper aims to extend the existing studies on seismic behavior of buildings with irregular shapes in-plan and elevation and to analyze the phenomenon of dynamic amplification also in terms of a variable height, in context of Vrancea seismicity. Vrancea is characterized by a source process with some specific spectral characteristics in a narrow epicentral and hypocentral region, showing significant differences in the mechanisms type, a directivity between events and an asymmetric distribution of the ground motion. These buildings with irregular distributions of mass, stiffness, strength, geometrical configurations etc. have exhibited generally a poor seismic performance. Some results for idealized buildings considered as case studies are conclusive and are based on both commented obtained diagrams and on analytical assessments. Through numerical calculation associated with geodynamic and non-destructive measurements, the field surveys, laboratory testing and instrumental, the extremely valuable information about the dynamic response of irregular structures are obtained.
