Technological progress in recent years in terrestrial measurements fails to effectively solve all practical situations that may occur in topographic survey because of the difficult conditions caused by the existence of specific forest vegetation in the riverbeds of rivers. Topographic surveys networks of minor riverbeds involve development of supported spatial poligonometric traversing[1]. This paper presents a comparative study on the accuracy and execution time of such traversing via two procedures applied on a study section of about one kilometer, located on the lower course of the river Nicolina in Iasi county. The suggested procedure is based on a change at the total station by adding a miniprism which will allow mutual and simultaneous targeting between the two devices. This method solves quite well the problem of spacial topographical traverse under precarious conditions, such as minor beds of rivers with shrub forest vegetation or where materialization of station points is very difficult (sites in the execution-infrastructure phase). After using the suggested method, the station materialization and centering operations, as well as their corresponding errors were removed, resulting in a significant increase in measurement accuracy(an increase in the planimetric precision of 50% and altimetric precision of 300%), and shortening the time required by measurements (to increased work efficiency by 40%.). In view of the many advantages of the suggested method, this may be also used in other circumstances than those of poor visibility. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
