Iron-ore was mined and processed near since the time of the Celts in Mníšek pod Brdy and surroundings. The actual underground mining started in 1746 and was completed in 1966. After the mine was closed, intensive restoration work conducted in the area. Big drops recorded hills, where the monastery is a place of pilgrimage. During the extraction the main pillar was excavated and it was a big deal after. Mine water flowing out for more than 200 years have also salinity influence on the surrounding environment. This brownfield is very interesting for its history, terrain relief for the tourism development in this region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
