Abstrakt:	The article presents the author's views on the role of tropical forests in climate change and how this role has grown since the Kyoto Protocol was signed in 1997. Topics include the need to implement standards and monitoring systems to achieve climate goals, the successes and failures of halting deforestation in Brazil, Guyana, and Indonesia, and the relationship between governance and technology.
