Fascist and authoritarian regimes mobilise not infrequently the ideological and affective potential of messianic symbols in order to stabilize their power. The figure of the dictator and his body play a substantial role in those Legitimizing discourses, communicating the mission and bright future of their political project. This article analyses the attempts by the dictator Franco and the apologists of its regime to utilise messianic discourses in order to underpin its ideological dominion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
