Abstrakt: This article focuses on promoting knowledge utilization through social sciences research. Experiences of the Benchmark Program, a three-year experiment established in Columbus, Ohio to promote the use of social science research in political planning and problem-solving suggest that social scientists themselves can increase the usefulness and promote the use of social science research in planning and problem-solving. The knowledge dissemination and utilization strategies developed by Benchmark reflect a clinically-oriented approach that warrants serious exploration by social scientists concerned about knowledge utilization.
