Prolonged electromagnetic screening (19 hours/day for 10 days) was found to induce an increase in the duration of passive swimming and a decrease in the duration of active swimming in the Porsolt test in male rats, along with a decrease in sexual motivation. There were no significant changes in the animals' behavior in an open field test. These results lead to the conclusion that prolonged electromagnetic screening produces depression-like behavior in rats. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
