Abstrakt: The article studies the distribution of Lachnellula pini, cause of pine canker and Lachnellula flavovirens, occurring on pine needles and branches killed by snow light. The occurrence of pine canker caused by Lachnellula pini appeared to be restricted to the northern boreal vegetation zone, from lake Oulu to the northern line of pine forests in Finland. In the north the disease is common in young pine stands. In the southern part of its range it was only found in pine regeneration growing on barren sandy sites. Lachnellula flavovirens, however, was found throughout the country on pine branches killed by snow light.
