Abstrakt: This article contains interviews of filmmakers Arturo Ripstein and scriptwriter Paz Alicia Garciadiego. Arturo Ripstein is Mexico's most acclaimed and influential director. He has cultivated a distinctive cluster of narrative and stylistic traits including a penchant for melodramatic stories, uninhibited performances, expressive lighting and long takes that allow emotionally charged scenes to play put in real time. Beginning with the film "El Impirio de la Fortuna," his most important collaborator has been screenwriter Paz Alicia Garciadiego. In 2000 they decided to make their next film, "Asi es la vida," in digital video, with results that pleased them very much. They used this format again for their next film "La Perdicion de los Hombres," and plan to continue with video in future projects.
