Abstrakt: | The article discusses the history of calvinism in Geneva, Switzerland and Scotland between the 16th and 18th centuries. Topics include the founding of Genevan Protestantism by nobleman Guillaume Farel, who was involved in the abolition of Catholic mass in August 1535 with theologian Pierre Viret, the connection between Calvinist republicanism and domestic and international upheaval, and the changing relationship between Scotland and Geneva. |
