Diagnosis and effective therapeutic management of mastitis have been changing over the years. Present study was carried out to investigate the prevalence of clinical and sub-clinical mastitis in and around Parbhani city. Screening of total 285 goats for mastitis was carried out by modified california mastitis Test (MCMT), modified white side test (MWST), milk chloride test, milk pH, milk electrical conductivity (EC) and somatic cell count (SCC) for the confirmation of mastitis. Prevalence of 61.05% and 9.47% of subclinical mastitis and clinical mastitis, respectively was recorded. Whereas, age-wise higher prevalence of subclinical mastitis was recorded 70.31%, 65.91% and 37.68% in 4-5 years, 3-4 years and 2-3 years age group in goats, respectively. In 4-5 years, 3-4 years and 2-3 years age group 11.72%, 9.09% and 5.80% prevalence of clinical mastitis in goats, respectively, was recorded. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
