The article suggests that it has become imperative for professional counselors to understand and validate clients' experiences of microaggressions and to guard against committing microaggressions in the counseling session. Topics discussed include microassaults, microinsults and microvalidations as three subtypes of microaggression. Also mentioned are 16 distinct categories of microaggression themes and four psychological dilemmas to demonstrate how microaggressions affect the recipient. |
