Abstrakt: |
Dental caries is a major dental disease affecting a large proportion of the inhabitants of the world. There are practically no geographic areas in the world whose inhabitants do not exhibit some evidence of dental caries. It affects persons of both genders in all races, all socioeconomic strata and every age group. It impairs the quality of life for many people causing pain and discomfort. The loss of tooth structure leading from dental caries results to compromised function of tooth which further affects ability to eat and enjoy the full range of dietary choices. Patient care can be improved with detection at the earliest stage. The present review studied the various diagnostic aids introduced in the recent times and their merits and demerits in diagnosing the disease. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
