One vital role that an urban POS plays is providing space for the expression of cultural and social diversity. By coming together in these desirable settings, people can communicate safely while enjoying a variety of recreations. all groups become comfortable, and the risks of anti-social or criminal behavior decrease. Nowadays lifestyle has been changing and most peoplés work becomes less connected with the land, therefore, many people demand to have some kind of connection with nature, even if it is only for short times. Neglecting to socio-cultural aspects of urban life in new developed urban spaces can be a major challenge in urban development. In this study the liveliness ability of "Chamran Park" in Shiraz, Iran were evaluated through measurement of people interaction, Variety of activities, and cultural diversity. Data were collected by personal interviews and field surveys. The results indicate that people of different age and ethnic groups were able to use this linear park at different hours due to flexibility of places. Finally, emphasizing the social life, the weaknesses and strengths of this POS were identified and suggestions were presented to improve it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
