Describes the development of rabbit model to investigate the role of blood flow alterations, tissue hypoxia and nitric oxide release in the development of gut mucosal injury during endotoxic shock. Determination of the role of hypoperfusion or hypoxia and local production of nitric oxide in the development of gut mucosal injury; Non-relation of the mechanism of gut injury in endotoxic shock to hypoxia. |
