Since previous publications in In Practice on disease control in adult pheasants (Pennycott 2001) and diseases in young pheasants (Welchman 2008), the numbers of gamebirds reared and released in Britain have continued to increase. In 2015, it was estimated that 40 million pheasants (Phasianus colchicus) and 12 million red-legged partridges (Alectoris rufa) were being reared, the two major gamebird species. This article gives an update on veterinary developments in gamebird disease and management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
