Abstrakt: The article examines the investigator characteristics and patient recruitment in Antihypertensive and Lipid-Lowering Treatment to Prevent Heart Attack Trial (ALLHAT), a randomized, double-blind, active-controlled trial which adopted the community-based approach. The study involves classes of antihypertensive medications including amlodipine, lisinopril, and doxazosin. Characteristics found include physician-investigator ethnicity, clinical practice type, and attitudes and research experience.
