Abstrakt: |
The article presents a study which mapped the prevalence of cutaneous leishmaniasis disease in Syria and its neighboring countries as of May 2016. The disease is caused by the protozoan parasite Leishmania major that is transmitted through a bite from a female Phlebotomus papatasi sand fly. Also cited are the spread of the disease in Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan due to the influx of Syrian refugees. |
