Abstrakt: Anionic surfactants are widely used in industry and domestic purposes and represents important polluting agents. Methods for analysis and monitoring the anionic surfactants are still required. A new surfactant sensitive electrode with PVC matrix was prepared and tested. For the direct potentiometric analysis, several ionic strength adjustors were tested in order to find the best substance and concentration with which the electrode showed the largest range of concentration and the best slope (the closest value related to the Nernstian slope). The best ionic strength adjustor was Na2SO4 0.01 M (J=0.03) that was used in the following stages of the study. The cetyltrimethylammonium laurylsulphate has been used as carrier for the preparation of PVC-based membrane ionselective electrodes for anionic surfactants. Several membranes were prepared using different plasticizers: tricresilphosphate (TCF); ortho-nitrophenyloctylether (o-NPOE) and dioctilsebacate (DOS). The best membrane was that based on cetyltrimethylammonium laurylsulphate plasticized with DOS. This electrode displays a Nernstian slope of -59.39 mV/decade in the range of 10-3-3.93x10-6 M/L.
