With the possibility of using low-cost technology from the games sector, this paper presents results of 2 independently implemented physiotherapy exercise systems, each using a Microsoft Kinect 2 sensor. Both system were implemented within a research project with basically different, yet similar target groups (young cancer patients and adult rehabilitation patients). Further, different approaches defining exercising and interpreting the Kinect data were used, these approaches were tested and compared using an identical experiment setup. The conclusions of comparing implementation and experiment results are, that a combined approach would be able to take benefits from both implementations, being able to supply end users with a physiotherapy system using a Microsoft Kinect 2.
