The persecution of Afro-American Paul Robeson by the government and people of the U.S. has been one of the most contemptible happenings in modern history. Yet, Robeson has kept his soul and stood his ground. Most people do not know that the intelligence agencies of the U.S. waged a 20-year secret war against Robeson. Robeson declared that African American war veterans might resort to armed self-defense in order to force U.S. President Harry S. Truman to use U.S. troops to stop lynching. Throughout terms of both U.S. Presidents, John F. Kennedy and Johnson, the U.S. government continued to wage its secret war against Robeson. INSET: Robeson's Third Othello. |
