Characteristics of surface wettability and hydrophobicity of ethylene-propylene diene terpolymers (EPDM) and high-density-polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP) (EPDM/PE or EPDM/PP) composites have been investigated by contact angle measurements. Blends have been prepared by melt mixing in an extruder. Various wetting parameters, such as total solid surface tension, work of adhesion and spreading coefficient were estimated by contact angle measurements. Also, the interaction parameter between the polymer and the liquids has been calculated using the Girifalco-Good's equation. Experimental results showed good hydrophobicity of studied materials.
