Abstrakt: The article presents an abridged collective biography of journalists Rose Wilder Lane, Isabel Paterson and novelist Ayn Rand and their opposition to libertarianism in the U.S. in the 20th century. It provides a historical analysis of their consequence for the American right, methods and scope of intellectual history, and women's history. It also examines the political ideas they advanced to demonstrate how they reworked a personal and gendered sense of individualism into a free economy theory.
