Abstrakt: Silicon nanoparticles produced by expanding thermal plasma chemical vapor deposition show reversible electrochemical sodium uptake at room temperature. Sodiation of silicon occurs in a two‐phase equilibrium reaction; whereas desodiation involves a solid solution of Na1−xSi (0 < x < 1). Silicon nanomaterials appear as promising anode materials for sodium‐ion batteries for the first time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
