The article discusses conservation of marginal populations of forest trees in Europe. Topics discussed include variable climate conditions and presence of forest tree populations with high levels of marginality in the Mediterranean region, establishment of COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology), an intergovernmental framework that facilitates the coordination of nationally funded research on a European level, launch of various projects under COST such Action FP1202. |
