The article presents a study which discusses the incidence of potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) among elderly patients in Nigeria. The researchers used Beers and Screening Tool of Older Persons' Potentially Inappropriate Prescription (STOPP) criteria to define prescribed medications inappropriateness. Results revealed the need for medication prescribers in the country to undergone continuing education in prescribing drugs to elderly patients to reduce the high prevalence of PIM. |
