The article provides information on weight loss surgery. It discusses the 3 most common surgeries for weight loss including gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. Gastric banding is when a silicone band is placed around the upper part of the stomach so less food can be eaten at once, sleeve gastrectomy is when part of the stomach is removed and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass is when a small pouch is created so food skips the rest of the stomach. |
